Karl Wilhelm Diefenbach (1851–1913)
From 1882 onwards, Karl Wilhelm Diefenbach began promoting nature-based religious doctrines in Munich. His gatherings were soon banned, and he later fled Vienna due to charges of fraud. Gustav Gräser was among his students. His commune, Humanitas, founded in Vienna in 1897, is considered a precursor to the Monte Verità school of life reform. Following its bankruptcy, he emigrated to Capri in 1899, where he again opened an art school.
