Queer

A collective term for all people who regard themselves as deviating from society’s views of gender or sexuality and a rejecting of heteronormativity. The word ‘queer’s vague definition and its versatility is one of its benefits, making it ‘a zone of possibilities.’ For some people the word is an insult, yet the queer community has reappropriated it as a subversive concept of self-empowerment.
