The term ‘blackfacing’ describes representations of Black people by white people using make-up to imitate black skin.

‘Blackfacing’ is considered racist because the identity and experiences of Black people are treated as a kind of costume that white people can easily put on and take off. Such activities degrade the experiences of both Black people and People of Color.
